With all of the disaster and tragedy that has happened this year, I haven’t been in much of a Christmas-y mood. For Kaylee’s sake, I am really trying to be more festive. Kenny and I are planning to take her to see Santa at Macy’s and the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree this weekend. We have so much on our minds but cannot forget to celebrate the positive things like our beautiful little family. So in an effort to be a little more festive, I turned to my craft. I made this cute little crochet snowflake clip for my princess to wear for Christmas. Here is how I did it:

Crochet Snowflake

Skill Level: 

Easy

Materials: 

  • Small amount of Category 4 Medium Weight Yarn; I used Red Heart Shimmer in the Snow colorway
  • Size C 2.75mm Crochet Hook*
  • Yarn Needle* for weaving ends
  • Scissors*
  • Hot glue gun*
  • Lined alligator clip

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
() – indicates stitch counts
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Instructions:

Round 1: Magic Circle, ch 1, *2 sc into the magic circle, ch 3; Repeat from * 5 more times, join to beginning sc with a sl st.
Round 2: Ch 1, sl st into the next sc, ch 1, *[2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc] all in the next ch-3 sp; Repeat from * 5 more times, join to beginning sc with a sl st.
Round 3: Ch 1, sl st into the next sc, ch 1, *[1 sc, ch 3, 1 sc, ch 5, 1 sc, ch 3, 1 sc) all into next ch-3 sp, ch 2; Repeat from * 5 more times, join in beginning sc with a sl st, fasten off and weave all ends.

Assembling Clip:

  • Place a small bead of glue on the lined alligator clip as well as on the back of the snowflake.
  • Adhere the two together and allow to dry.

Now you have an adorable clip that any little girl can wear for the winter.  Happy crocheting and crafting!
