World Wide Artist Blog Hop

Last week, Charlotte from Crochet by CEDdesigns invited me to join in on the World Wide Artist Blog Hop! You can see her post here.

I am so lucky to have met Charlotte. She is an amazing designer with great patterns and crochet tutorials on her blog. I love meeting new people that also have the same love for crochet that I do! Thank you so much Charlotte for inviting me to the hop!

Here is how The World Wide Artist Blog Hop works:

Artists around the world post answers to four questions on their blogs and link to a minimum of one, maximum of three artists who post their answers the following Monday. The next Blog Hop post will be on October 6th.

Here are the 4 questions for each participant:

Why do I do what I do?
How does my work differ from others of its genre?
How does my creative process work?
What am I working on now?

Some Previous Participants:

I have invited Katie of Katie’s Crochet Goodies and Crafts for next week’s blog hop.

Let’s get started!

Why do I do what I do?

Crocheting, for me, started as a hobby. I was in between jobs, having left my corporate job for a teaching career, and wanted something to bide my time while waiting to start my new job. It slowly turned from hobby to a passion. I can honestly say that I love what I do and I don’t think I would trade it for anything in the world. Turning my passion into a business and being able to stay at home with my daughter and be there for her is a big reason why I do what I do. I love to design and create things from just a ball of yarn and my hands. It’s an amazing feeling to be an artist and to express myself through fiber.

How does my work differ from others of its genre?

I like to create things from ideas that pop into my head and based on items that my family or friends want me to make. I just try to be as creative as I can and as original as I can be. I also like to create things that are personal to me and I think that is why I am different from the other designers out there.

Here are some of my favorite projects:

How does my creative process work?

Well…I’m not sure if I really have a “creative process.” I like to write ideas down and sketch ideas for new projects in my notebook. I also love being inspired by color schemes so I will take a color scheme that I am really in love with and try to apply it to one of my draft designs to come up with a finished product. Sometimes, all I need is a ball of yarn and a hook. I just start crocheting and see what design comes along. Sometimes it’s beautiful and sometimes I have to frog it all but I like to free-form from time to time.

What am I working on now?

Right now, I’m working on a bunch of different things. I have a blanket for my baby nephew, 2 cowls, a TON of Christmas presents and I have a long “bucket list” of things that I want to start designing. On top of all of that, my husband and I are trying to find a new home and I am also trying to be a soccer mom 🙂
