Little Flower Apron Set – Free Pattern

This pattern was designed by Joanita Theron of Creative Crochet Workshop, exclusively for The Stitchin’ Mommy

My daughter has this cute little kitchen set, which she loves to play with. I thought it would be nice if she had her own little apron and matching pot holders 🙂

Little Flower Apron Set

Materials:

• Double knitting light worsted yarn in coral pink, green, yellow and light blue (approx 25gr for each color)
• Double knitting medium worsted yarn in pink (approx 100gr)
• Crochet hooks 3.5mm, 4.00mm and 4.50mm
• Yarn Needle

Abbreviations:

sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch

Gauge:

Tension is not necessary for this project to be perfect!
But for those you want to know what mine was – 8 rows x 16 Stitches = 5cm x 10cm using the pattern for this project

Finished Size:

Apron – approx 31cm x 31cm
Pot Holders – approx 18cm x 18cm
Apron Strap – 100cm in length x 6cm in height

Notes:

This project uses the Alternate Stitch – which is a simple variation on the single crochet which makes a very pretty pattern that is very quick to work up. To use this pattern for other projects or to make bigger pot holders or apron simply work a foundation chain that is a multiple of two chains, plus one extra.

Instructions:

The Pattern: 

This is the main instruction on how to work the stitch pattern. Work the foundation chain given for the project and continue as follows:

Foundation Row: Work 2 SC into 3rd CH from hook, * SKIP 1CH, work 2 SC into next CH, repeat from * until end, turn
Row 1:  CH2, SKIP the base ST and the next, *work 2 SC into next ST, SKIP 1 ST. Repeat from until end, working 2 SC into top of turning CH (2nd of 2CH)
Repeat last row throughout to form stitch pattern

 Apron:

With pink medium worsted yarn and 4.50mm hook

CH 49
Work 46 rows of the pattern, fasten off and weave in ends

Apron Border:

With coral pink light worsted yarn and 4.00mm hook

Work 1 SC into each ST and row all around, working 2 SC into each corner, fasten off and weave in ends

Apron Strap:

With coral pink light worsted yarn and 4.00mm hook

CH 161

Work 10 rows of the pattern, alternating colors every two rows, fasten off and weave in ends

2 rows – coral pink
2 rows – green
2 rows – coral pink
2 rows – green
2 rows – coral pink

Center strap onto apron and whip stitch strap and apron together.

Pot Holders:

With pink medium worsted yarn and 4.50mm hook

CH 27

Work 27 rows of the pattern, fasten off and weave in ends

Pot Holder Border:
(Make one with a coral pink border and one with a green border)

With coral pink/green light worsted yarn and 4.00mm hook

Work 1 SC into each ST and row all around, working 2 SC into each corner, work 1 SC,  CH10 and 1 SC into last corner, fasten off and weave in ends

Flower Appliqués:

With yellow and light blue  light worsted yarn and 3.50mm hook
