Granny Blanket with Flower Applique – Free Pattern

Granny Blanket with Flower Appliqué - Free Pattern by Creative Crochet Workshop for The Stitchin' Mommy | www.thestitchinmommy.com

This pattern was designed by Joanita Theron of Creative Crochet Workshop, exclusively for The Stitchin’ Mommy

This is a timeless granny stitch blanket – there are many beautiful and unique versions available.
This is my version: I made this blanket as a gift for family member who recently had a baby:)
I wanted a soft play of color that was not complicated by a difficult pattern – something that worked up quickly and could be jazzed up by simply adding an appliqué!

This is the basic instructions for working a granny square 🙂

Cut first yarn and weave in ends. Rejoin second color into any CH 1 space – continue with pattern

Color sequence for blanket:
6 x rnds of blue
* 2 x rnds of cream, 2 x rnds of green, 2 x rnds of blue. Repeat from *3 more times

Border:  (I know the border is extremely simple – but I wanted the focus to be on the colors and not any fancy stitching!)

With cream yarn work 4 rnds of SC – work 1 SC, CH1, 1 SC into each corner.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

I love to crochet! To design and make patterns for both young and old is an absolute life’s passion. My daughter is my greatest inspiration! I love to try and learn new techniques, and although patience is not my strongest virtue, I have found that committing to a project and having the pleasure of a finished item, is one of life’s greatest and most satisfying pleasures. I believe that anyone can learn a new craft. I try to design and make my projects so that even a novice can do them. “Crochet is an art and crocheters it’s artists. Each crafted item is unique and own to its crafter”
