Happy Thursday! Welcome to this week’s Let’s Learn a New Crochet Stitch – Kitchen Crochet Edition event. This week I am going to show you the Crinkle Stitch in this photo tutorial.  I am also going to give you instructions for a dishcloth in a  6″ x 6″, 9″ x 9″ and 12″ x 12″ size. Crinkle Stitch Tutorial and Dishcloth Pattern

Materials:

Abbreviations:

ch(s) – chain(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
FPsc – front post single crochet
BPsc – back post single crochet
t-ch – turning chain
WS – wrong side
() – indicates stitch counts
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Multiple:

Chain a multiple of 2+1

Gauge:

3.7 sts & 3.3 rows = 1″

Finished Sizes:

6″ x 6″
9″ x 9″
12″ x 12″

Notes:

  • This pattern is written in US crochet terms.
  • The sizes are an approximation. They will not be exact. Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. Gauge is not necessary for this pattern but if you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.

Row 1:  (WS) work 1 hdc into the 3rd ch from hook (2 sk chs count as a hdc)

 Row 1 cont’d: work 1 hdc into each of the remaining sts across, turn.

Row 2: Ch 1

Row 2 cont’d: Work 1 sc into the first st

Row 2 cont’d: *Work 1 FPsc around the post of the next hdc from previous row (to work a FPsc, insert hook from front to back around the post of the st from the previous rowyarn over, pull up a loop

Row 3: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), sk the first st

Row 4: Ch 1

Row 4 cont’d: Work 1 sc into the first st

Row 4 cont’d: *Work 1 BPsc around the post of the next hdc from previous row

Ch 23

Row 2: Ch 1, 1 sc into the first st, *1 FPsc around the post of the next st from previous row, 1 BPsc around the post of the next st from previous row** Repeat from * to ** across, work 1 sc into the t-ch, turn. (22)
Row 3: Ch 2 (count as first hdc), sk first st, work 1 hdc into each st across, turn. (22)
Row 4: Ch 1, 1 sc into the first st, *1 BPsc around the post of the next st from previous row, 1 FPsc around the post of the next st from previous row** Repeat from * to ** across, work 1 sc into the t-ch, turn. (22)
Row 5: Ch 2 (count as first hdc), sk first st, work 1 hdc into each st across, turn. (22)

You can add a simple border by joining your yarn with a sl st in one of the stitches, sc evenly around placing 3 sc sts in each corner, join in beginning sc with an invisible join. Fasten off, weave ends.
