I am so excited to share my latest book review with you today! My friend Marie Segares from Underground Crafter has written another amazing book called Design It, Promote It, Sell It: Online Marketing for Your Crochet and Knit Patterns. In Marie’s previous book, she taught us how to make money by teaching crochet (you can see my review here.) In Design It, Promote It, Sell It, Marie gives a crash course on how to market your crochet and/or knit designs so that you can be more successful. It is a great read for beginner designers and veterans as well!

I’ve been designing crochet patterns for six years now and I find myself having a difficult time marketing my patterns. Sometimes I don’t know where to start and I get frustrated with the lack of engagement from my readers. After reading Design It, Promote It, Sell It, I feel like I have a whole new perspective on marketing my work. Marie provides many amazing tips. She goes into great detail about how to promote your product and reach the right audience. The questionnaires and checklists really help you to analyze your business and help you start effectively marketing your work. She discusses how to use social media to your advantage and how to find your “voice” when posting online. Marie also dives into using analytics to help you understand your audience and their level of engagement. She discusses branding, which I think can be a big hurdle when you are just starting out. Marie gives some great branding advice that I wish I knew when I began my crochet designer journey.
Design It, Promote It, Sell It is filled with tons of great information that I think every designer would love to know. It really is a great read and I am so glad that I was able to read it and gain some wisdom.
