Aligned Double Crochet Stitch Tutorial
It’s that time again…time to learn a new stitch! I am so excited to show you the Aligned Double Stitch pattern because it is an easy stitch that creates a beautiful stitch pattern. For this tutorial, I will show you how to make an 8″ x 8″ square. I hope you enjoy the tutorial! Happy Crocheting!

Aligned Double Crochet Afghan Square Tutorial
Materials:
- Category 4 Medium Weight Yarn; I used Lion Brand Cotton-Ease for this example.
- Size I 5.5 mm Crochet Hook*
- Yarn Needle* for weaving ends
- Scissors*

Abbreviations:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
t-ch – turning chain
* – indicates instructions to be repeated
Multiple:
Chain an odd number of stitches
Gauge:
4 stitches & 2 rows = 1″
Instructions:
Ch 31
Row 1: 2 dc into the 5th ch from hook,
Row 1 cont’d: *sk the next ch, 2 dc into the next ch;
Row 1 cont’d: Repeat from * until the last 2 chains,
Row 1 cont’d: sk the next ch, 1 dc into the last ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1
Row 2 cont’d: 1 sc into the top of the dc from previous row,
Row 2 cont’d: *Ch 1, 1 sc into the space between the 2-dc clusters;
Row 2 cont’d: Repeat from * across, ch 1, 1 sc into the t-ch, turn.
Row 3: Ch 3,
Row 3 cont’d: 2 dc into each sc across, 1 dc into the last st, turn.
Rows 4-16: Repeat Rows 2 and 3
