Textured Pebble Washcloth – Free Crochet Pattern

Textured Pebble Washcloth - Free Crochet Pattern by EyeLoveKnots for The Stitchin' Mommy | www.thestitchinmommy.com

This pattern was designed by Alexandra of EyeLoveKnots, exclusively for The Stitchin’ Mommy.

I just love the texture of this stitch pattern that I once discovered in a dress many moons ago. I have many ideas for this stitch pattern, but if you have any requests, drop me a note below.

Textured Pebble Washcloth

Materials:
  • Less than 100 Yards each of Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn – I used Lily Sugar n Cream in Ecru and Solid Blue Jean
  • H8/5mm Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle for Weaving in Ends – I used a #18
  • Opt. Jewelry Pliers which make it much easier to weave in your ends

Abbreviations:

SC – Single Crochet
TC – Triple Crochet

Gauge:

16 HDC by 10 Rows = 4″ x 4″

Finished Size:

Small: 8″ x 8″
Large: 8″ x 10.5″

Notes:

  • I worked up each washcloth in just under an hour.
  • Beginning chain one does not count as a stitch in final count.
  • The small size instructions are shown, with the large size instructions in parenthesis.
  • Yarn Alternatives: Lion Brand’s Kitchen Cotton, Bernat’s Handicrafter, Hobby Lobby’s Crafters Secret Cotton. I do not recommend Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton as it isn’t as durable.

Instructions:

R1: Chain 28. SC into the 2nd stitch from the hook, (TC into the next stitch, SC into the next stitch) 13x. (27 stitches)
R2: Chain 1, turn. SC into the 1st stitch, and each stitch across. (27 SCs)
R3: Chain 1, turn. SC into the 1st stitch, (TC into the next stitch, SC into the next stitch) 13x. (27 stitches)
R4 – 25 (31): Repeat Rows 2 and 3, ending with a Row 3.

Border: Chain 1, turn. Work 2 SCs into the 1st stitch, SC into the next 25 stitches, 3 SC in the next stitch – corner, SC 24 (30) down the side of the washcloth, 3 SC into the next stitch – corner, SC 25 along the opposite end of the beginning foundation chain, 3 SC into the next stitch – corner, SC 24 (30) up the side of the washcloth, SC into the last stitch. Join to the first SC. (110 SC; 122 SC)

Fasten Off and Weave in Ends.

  1. Thank you for the free pattern and for the heads up on avoiding “I love this cotton” brand! I had it in my hands ready to use and then saw your message …. I’ll save it for another project.

Wondering if you have a pattern or a scrubbie idea using the Scrub-ology cotton brand yarn? I was thinking of using a strand of this along with a strand of regular cotton and form a circle to use as a body scrubbie of sorts, or make a sponge like rectangular piece for the kitchen …. thoughts?

    Cheers, Linda

  2. I am trying to copy the pattern so I can make it for my sister.

I DO have brain injuries and I maybe I’m missing something = I can’t seem to find a way to copy it or anything so I am really confused.

Could you please tell me what I’m missing? I see it’s a free pattern.

    Thank you kindly
