Welcome to the November installation of the 2017 Scarf of the Month Club! We have three new scarf patterns to share with you this month. My pattern contribution this month is a chunky scarf that is made using two strand of yarn held together! With a simple stitch pattern, you can make this scarf as long or wide as you need it to be. Back by popular demand, Rhondda and I are hosting the Scarf of the Month Club CAL in 2017. We will each have a new free scarf/cowl/neckwarmer pattern on our blogs each month, for 12 months!

Chunky Charcoal Scarf

Materials:

• Approximately 414 yds of Category 4 Medium Yarn in two colors
  • Approximately 207 yds of Color A; I used Red Heart Super Saver* in Black
  • Approximately 207 yds of Color B; I used Red Heart Super Saver* in Charcoal
• Size M 8mm Crochet Hook*
• Yarn Needle* for weaving ends
• Scissors*

Skill Level:

Easy

Abbreviations:

ch(s) – chain(s)
sc – single crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
() – indicates stitch counts
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Gauge:

7.2 stitches & 7.2 rows = 4″ (in sc)

Finished Size:

Approximately 4.5″ wide and 82″ long

Notes:

• This pattern is written in US terms.
• Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. Gauge is not necessary for this pattern but if you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.
• This project is made using two strands of yarn held together throughout the entire project.

Instructions:

Using one strand of Color A and one strand of Color B held together:
Ch 146
Row 1: 1 sc into the 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc into each remaining st across, turn. (145 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st across, turn. (145 sts)
Row 3-7: Repeat Row 2
Row 8: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st across, fasten off. (145 sts)

Finish:

• Weave all ends.
