Bits N Odds Set – Free Pattern
This pattern was designed by Joanita Theron of Creative Crochet Workshop, exclusively for The Stitchin’ Mommy
When my daughter was a baby she was for awhile addicted to the Purity Brand of Butternut and Vanilla Custard. This of course came in small little bottles, which I have saved by the dozens. I knew that someday they WILL come in handy. As my skill and craft grows I am in constant need of space and storage, especially for tiny little bits and odds like, buttons, snaps, needles and all sorts. And like most I want my storage to be pretty.

Materials:
- 3 x Small Purity Bottle ( any small bottle 6cm in diameter)
- Double knitting light worsted yarn in 4 colors, pink, purple, green and cream (approx 25gr for each color)
- Crochet hook 3.5mm
- Yarn Needle
- Stitch Marker
Abbreviations:
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
dc-cluster – double crochet cluster
sl st – slip stitch
Gauge:
8 stitches (5cm) and 4 rows (2cm) – Not necessary to keep strict tension, as long as Bottle Cover fits snugly around bottle success is achieved.
Finished Size:
Basket – 12cm in diameter and 6cm in length
Bottle Cover – 6cm in diameter and 6cm in length
Bottle Lid – 7cm in diameter and 2cm in length
Notes:
- Any small bottle 6cm in diameter and 6cm in length will work. But bigger bottles sizes are easily adjusted by just adding rounds at the bottom (increase 6 stitches with every round) and adding rounds in length until desired size is made. Example: Bottle Cover – After rnd 6 – Increase like follows: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next five STS. Repeat from * around (42 SC). MM
Bottle Lid – After rnd 4 – Increase like follows: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next seven STS. Repeat from * around (54 SC). MM
Instructions:
Bottle Cover:
With pink/green or purple yarn and 3.5mm hook
This part is made by working in continuous rounds, so you may want to use a stitch marker to keep record of your current rnd.
Rnd 1: With yarn, CH 2. Work 6 SC in second CH from hook. Place a stitch marker in the last SC to designate the end of the rnd.
Rnd 2: Work 2 SC in each ST around (12 SC). MM
Rnd 3: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (18 SC). MM
Rnd 4: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next two STS. Repeat from * around (24 SC). MM
Rnd 5: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next three STS. Repeat from * around (30 SC). MM
Rnd 6: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next four STS. Repeat from * around (36 SC). MM
Rnd 7: For this rnd only work in the back loops. Work 1 SC in each ST around (36 SC). MM
Rnd 8 -20: Work 1 SC into each ST around (36 SC). MM
Rnd 21: SL ST into each ST around. FO and weave in ends.
Bottle Lid:
With pink/green or purple yarn and 3.5mm hook
CH4, join with a SL ST to form a ring.
Rnd 1: CH3 (counts as 1DC), 2DC-cluster into ring, CH1, *3DC-cluster into ring, CH1. Repeat from *4 more times, join with a SL ST into top of 1st cluster
Rnd 2: SL ST into 1st CH1 space, CH3, 1DC (counts as 1st cluster), CH1, 2DC-cluster into same space, CH1, *work [2DC cluster, CH1, 2DC-cluster] into next CH1 space, rep from *to end. Cut yarn and join cream yarn with a SL ST into top of 1st cluster.
Rnd 3: SL ST into 1st CH1 space, CH3 (counts as 1DC), 2DC-cluster into same space, CH2, * 3DC-cluster into next CH1 space, CH1, rep from *to end. Join with a SL ST into top of 1st cluster.
Rnd 4: CH1, *work 2SC into top of cluster, work 2SC into CH2 space, repeat from * until end (48 SC).
Rnd 5: For this rnd only work in the back loops. CH1, work 1 SC in each ST around (48 SC).
Rnd6-7: CH1, work 1 SC in each ST around (48 SC).
Rnd 8: SL ST into each ST around. FO and weave in ends.

Happy crocheting!
I love to crochet! To design and make patterns for both young and old is an absolute life’s passion. My daughter is my greatest inspiration! I love to try and learn new techniques, and although patience is not my strongest virtue, I have found that committing to a project and having the pleasure of a finished item, is one of life’s greatest and most satisfying pleasures. I believe that anyone can learn a new craft. I try to design and make my projects so that even a novice can do them. “Crochet is an art and crocheters it’s artists. Each crafted item is unique and own to its crafter” Find Joanita on her Blog and Facebook page! |
