My pattern contribution is a quick and easy flower pot cozy. It is perfect for dressing up any old flower pots and adding a little pizzazz to your plants. Materials:

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
sl st – slip stitch
sp – space
st(s) – stitch(es)
() – indicates stitch counts
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Gauge:

8 stitches & 5.6 rows = 4″ (in hdc)

Finished Size:

Approximately 5″ in diameter and 5″ tall

Notes:

  • This pattern is written in US terms.
  • Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. If you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.
  • This project is worked in the round and joined after each round.
  • If you do not know how to do a magic circle (or magic ring) you can find the tutorial here.

Instructions:

With Color A,
Magic circle, ch 1

Round 1: 6 sc into the magic circle, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (6 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (12 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, *1 sc into the next st, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (18 sts)
Round 4: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 2 sts, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (24 sts)
Round 5: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 3 sts, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (30 sts)
Round 6: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 4 sts, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (36 sts)
Round 7: Ch 1, 1 hdc into the back loop of each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (36 sts)
Round 8: Ch 1, 1 hdc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (36 sts)
Round 9-10: Ch 1, 1 hdc into the first st, *sk the next st, 1 hdc into the next st, 1 hdc into the skipped st (around the previous st); Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st.  (36 sts)
Change to Color B
Round 11:
Ch 1, 1 hdc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (36 sts)
Round 12-13: Ch 1, 1 hdc into the first st, *sk the next st, 1 hdc into the next st, 1 hdc into the skipped st (around the previous st); Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st.  (36 sts)

Finish:

  • Fasten off.
  • Weave all ends.
