Summer Days Mini Market Tote

Materials:

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
st(s) – stitch(es)
() – indicates stitch counts
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Gauge:

16 stitches & 14 rows = 4″ (in pattern st)

Finished Size:

  • Approximately 8″ x 9.5″, excluding handles.

Notes:

  • This pattern is written in US terms.
  • Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. If you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.
  • All color changes are made in the last yarn over of the last stitch of the row. To ensure enough yarn is left for the seaming at the end, leave 12″ tails at the beginning and ends of color changes.

Instructions (make 2): 

Ch 31
With Color A,
Row 1: Work 1 sc into the 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc into the next st, *1 sc into the next st, 1 dc into the next st; Repeat from * across, turn. (30 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, *1 sc into the next st, 1 dc into the next st; Repeat from* across, turn. (30 sts)
Rows 3-12: Repeat Row 2
Change to Color B
Rows 13-24: Repeat Row 2
Change to Color C
Rows 25-29: Repeat Row 2
Row 30: Repeat Row 2, fasten off.

Finish:

  • Lay both panels on top of each other, matching up all ends. Using yarn tails and yarn needle (or extra yarn and a yarn needle) whip stitch around 3 sides of the bag, leaving the top open. Fasten off.
  • Count 11 sts in from the end of the top row, on one side of the bag. Using Color C, sl st into the st. Ch 45 and sl st into the 19th st. Ch 1, sc into each of the 45 sts, sl st into top of the tote bag. Repeat on other side. Fasten off.
  • Weave all ends.
