Halloween “Ghoster” Ghost Coaster – Free Crochet Pattern

I can’t believe Halloween is almost around the corner! I am celebrating by joining this year’s Halloween CAL hosted by CAL Central! Halloween “Ghoster” Ghost Coaster

Materials:

Abbreviations:

ch(s) – chain(s)
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
sl st – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)
() – indicates stitch counts
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Gauge:

20 stitches & 16 rows = 4″ (in sc)

Finished Size:

  • Approximately 5″ long x 4″ wide

Notes:

  • This pattern is written in US terms.
  • Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. If you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.

Instructions:

Magic Circle, Ch 1
Round 1: Work 6 sc into the magic circle, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (6 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (12 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, *1 sc into the next st, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (18 sts)
Round 4: Ch 1, *2 sc into the next st, 1 sc into each of the next 2 sts; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (24 sts)
Round 5: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 3 sts, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (30 sts)
Round 6: Ch 1, *2 sc into the next st, 1 sc into each of the next 4 sts; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (36 sts)
Round 7: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 5 sts, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st, turn. (42 sts)

Now you will be working on the ghost’s “tail.”

Row 8: Ch 1, 1 sc into each of the next 6 sts, turn. (6 sts)
Row 9: Ch 1, sk the first st, 1 sc into each of the next 5 sts, turn. (5 sts)
Row 10: Ch 1, 1 sc into each of the next 4 sts, sl st into the last st, turn. (5 sts)
Row 11: Ch 1, sk the sl st and the next st, 1 sc into each of the next 3 sts, turn. (3 sts)
Row 12: Ch 1, 1 sc into each of the next 2 sts, sl st into the last st, turn. (3 sts)
Row 13: Ch 1, sk the sl st and the next st, 1 sc into the last st, turn. Do not fasten off. (1 st)

Finish:

  • Sc evenly up the tail and around the ghost’s body.
  • When you are half-way up the circle, ch 6, 1 sc into each st across the ch, join with a sc into the next st of the circle. This will create one of the ghost’s arms. Continue to evenly sc around and repeat arm instructions for the other side.
  • Weave in all remaining ends.
