BL – back loop
ch(s) – chain(s)
hdc – half double crochet
sc – single crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
() – indicates stitch counts

Gauge:

19.2 stitches & 13.2 rows = 4″ (in pattern st)

Finished Sizes:

  • Teen – Fits 21″ head size
  • Adult Small – Fits 22″ head size
  • Adult Medium – Fits 23″ head size
  • Adult Large – Fits 24″ head size

Multiple:

Chain any number of stitches

Notes:

  • This pattern is written in US terms.
  • Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. If you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.
  • This pattern is worked flat and seamed at the ends to create the headband/earwarmer (see finishing instructions below for seaming information.)

Teen:

Ch 13
Row 1: 1 sc into the 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc into each st across, turn. (12 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, 1 sc into the first st, 1 sc into the BL of each of the next 10 sts, 1 sc into the last st, turn. (12 sts)
Rows 3-6: Repeat Row 2
Row 7: Ch 1, 1 hdc into the first st, 1 hdc into the BL of each of the next 10 sts, 1 hdc into the last st, turn. (12 sts)
Rows 8-12: Repeat Row 7
Rows 13-18: Repeat Row 2
Rows 19-24: Repeat Row 7
Rows 25-30: Repeat Row 2
Rows 31-36: Repeat Row 7
Rows 37-42: Repeat Row 2
Rows 43-48: Repeat Row 7
Rows 49-54: Repeat Row 2
Rows 55-60: Repeat Row 7

Finish:

  • Lay your headband flat. Bring the ends together so that they meet in the middle.
  • Fold each end in half lengthwise and pinch them at the ends.
  • Place the two folded ends together, sandwiching them together and making sure the stitches are aligned.
  • Using the yarn tail and yarn needle, stitch the ends together, making sure to work through all four pieces of the fabric.
  • Fasten off, weave all ends.
  • Turn the headband inside out so that the knot is on the inside.
