Mini Halloween Cauldron Free Crochet Pattern

Materials:

Abbreviations:

ch(s) – chain(s)
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
sl st(s) – slip stitch(es)
st(s) – stitch(es)
() – indicates stitch counts
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Gauge:

16 stitches & 20 rows = 4″ (in sc)

Finished Size:

Approximately 2.5″ in diameter and 2″ tall

Notes:

  • This pattern is written in US terms.
  • Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. If you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.
  • This project is worked in the round and is joined after each round.

Instructions:

Cauldron Base:
With Color A,
Magic Circle, ch 1,
Round 1: Work 6 sc into the magic circle. (6 sts)
Round 2:
Ch 1, 2 sc into each st around. (12 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, *1 sc into the next st, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (18 sts)
Round 4: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 2 sts, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (24 sts)
Round 5: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 3 sts, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (30 sts)
Rounds 6-11: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (30 sts)
Round 12: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st, fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing. (30 sts)

Cauldron Top:
With Color B,
Round 1: Work 6 sc into the magic circle. (6 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc into each st around. (12 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, *1 sc into the next st, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (18 sts)
Round 4: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 2 sts, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (24 sts)
Round 5: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 3 sts, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st, fasten off. (30 sts)

Assembly:

  • Begin stuffing the inside of the cauldron base with fiber fill.
  • Place the cauldron top onto the base, lining the outer stitches of the top with the last round of the base.
  • Using the yarn tail from the base and a yarn needle, begin whip stitching the top to the base, going through just the back loop of the base into the front loop of the top.
  • Once the top is almost completely closed, add a bit more fiber fill to make the cauldron a little more firm. Finish whip stitching the top and weave all ends.

Finish:

  • With Color A, join into any of the front loop stitches of the last round of the base with a sl st.
  • Work 1 sc into the front loop of each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (30 sts)
  • Ch 1, 1 sc into each st around, fasten off, join into the beginning sc with an invisible join. (30 sts)
  • With Color A, join into any of the stitches with a sl st, ch 8, sk the next st, sl st into the next st, fasten off.
  • Count 12 sts around, with Color A, join into the next st with a sl st, ch 8, sk the next st, sl st into the next st, fasten off.
  • Weave all ends.
  • Using the hot glue gun, glue green pom poms to the inside of the cauldron to create little cauldron bubbles.
