- Approximately 81 yds of Category 4 Medium Weight Yarn in 3 colors:
- Approximately 60 yds of Color A; I used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton* yarn in Orchid
- Approximately 17 yds of Color B; I used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton* yarn in White
- Approximately 4 yds of Color C; I used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton* yarn in Aqua
- Size H 5mm Furls Streamline Galaxy Polaris Crochet Hook*
- Yarn Needle* for weaving ends
- Scissors*

Body:
With Color A,
Magic Circle, ch 1
Round 1: Work 6 sc into the magic circle, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (6 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (12 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, *1 sc into the next st, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (18 sts)
Round 4: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 2 sts, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (24 sts)
Round 5: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 3 sts, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (30 sts)
Round 6: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 4 sts, 2 sc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (36 sts)
Round 7: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (36 sts)
Rounds 8-18: Repeat Round 7
Round 19: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 4 sts, 1 sc dec over the next 2 sts; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (30 sts)
Round 20: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (30 sts)
Round 21: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 3 sts, 1 sc dec over the next 2 sts; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (24 sts)
Round 22: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (24 sts)
Round 23: Ch 1, *1 sc into each of the next 2 sts, 1 sc dec over the next 2 sts; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (18 sts)
Round 24: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (18 sts)
Begin stuffing with fiber fill. Add safety eyes.
Round 25: Ch 1, *1 sc into the next st, 1 sc dec over the next 2 sts; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (12 sts)
Rounds 26-27: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (12 sts)
Continue stuffing until you are satisfied with the amount of fiber fill.
Round 28: Ch 1, *1 sc dec over the next 2 sts; Repeat from * around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (6 sts)
Rounds 29-30: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st around, join into the beginning sc with a sl st. (6 sts)
Back Fin (1st):
Without fastening off from body,
Ch 9
Row 1: 1 sc into the 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc into the next st, 1 hdc into the next st, 1 dc into the next st, 1 tr into the next st, 1 dc into the next st, 1 hdc into the next st, 1 sc into the last st, sl st through both side of Round 30 to help cinch the hole closed, turn. (8 sts)
Row 1 (cont’d): Working up the other side of the ch, 1 sc into the next st, 1 hdc into the next st, 1 dc into the next st, 1 tr into the next st, 1 dc into the next st, 1 hdc into the next st, 1 sc into the next st, sl st into the last st, fasten off. (8 sts)
Back Fin (2nd):
With Color A,
Sl st into Round 30, ch 9.
Row 1: 1 sc into the 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc into the next st, 1 hdc into the next st, 1 dc into the next st, 1 tr into the next st, 1 dc into the next st, 1 hdc into the next st, 1 sc into the last st, sl st through both side of Round 30 to help cinch the hole closed, turn. (8 sts)

With Color A,
Magic circle, ch 1.
Round 1: 6 sc into the magic circle (Do not join). (6 sts)
Round 2: 2 sc into each st around. (12 sts)
Rounds 3-5: 1 sc into each st around. (12 sts)
Round 6: 1 sc into each st around, fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing. (12 sts)
Horn:
With Color B,
Magic Circle, ch 1.
Round 1: 3 sc into the magic circle. (3 sts)
Round 2: 2 sc into each st around. (6 sts)
Rounds 3-11: 1 sc into each st around. (6 sts)
Round 12: 1 sc into each st around, fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. (6 sts)
Bow:
With Color C,
Ch 4.
Row 1: 2 dc into the 4th ch from hook, [ch 3, sl st] into the same st. (4 sts)
Row 1 (cont’d): Working down the other side of the ch, [ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3 sl st] into the same st, fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing. (4 sts)
Finish:
- Wrap yarn tail around bow and cinch the center to make it look like a bow. Do not cut yarn tail, you will need it to sew onto the head of your narwhal.
- Position and attach both side fins to the side of the narwhal using the yarn tails and yarn needle.
- Attach the horn using the yarn tail and yarn needle.
- Position the bow and attach using yarn tail and yarn needle.
- Embroider the face using an embroidery needle and embroidery thread. I used black for the mouth and pink for the cheeks.
