Northern Lights Scarf Free Crochet Pattern

Materials:

• Approximately 272 yds of Category 4 Medium Weight Yarn in 4 colors:
  • Approximately 77 yds of Color A: I used Furls Wander Yarn* in the Laguna colorway
  • Approximately 41 yds of Color B: I used Furls Wander Yarn* in the Moonbeam colorway
  • Approximately 77 yds of Color C: I used Furls Wander Yarn* in the Festival colorway
  • Approximately 77 yds of Color D: I used Furls Wander Yarn* in the Peninsula colorway
• Size I 5.5mm Furls Streamline Pisces Crochet Hook*
• Yarn Needle* for weaving ends
• Scissors*

Easy

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
ch-sp – chain space
dc – double crochet
sk – skip
sl st – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)
() – indicates stitch counts
[] – indicates instructions to be worked in one stitch
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Gauge:

16 stitches & 7.2 rows = 4″ (in pattern st)

Finished Size:

Approximately 7″ wide and 68″ long

Multiple:

Chain a multiple of 3+7

Notes:

• This pattern is written in US terms.
• Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. Gauge is not necessary for this pattern but if you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.
• Chain sts are included in the stitch count at the end of the row.
• All color changes are made in the last yarn over of the last stitch of the row.

Instructions:

With Color A,
Ch 31
Row 1: Work 1 dc into the 4th ch from the hook (count skipped ch sts as 1 dc), ch 1, sk the next st, *[1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc] into the next st, sk the next 2 sts; Repeat from * across until there are 4 sts remaining, ch 1, sk the next 2 sts, 1 dc into each of the last 2 sts, turn. (30 sts)
Row 2: Ch 3 (count as 1 dc here and throughout), 1 dc into the next st, ch 1 [1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc] into each ch-sp across, ch 1, sk the next ch, 1 dc into each of the last 2 sts, turn. (30 sts)
Rows 3-35: Repeat Row 2
Change to Color B
Row 36-45: Repeat Row 2
Change to Color C
Rows 46-80: Repeat Row 2
Change to Color B
Rows 81-90: Repeat Row 2
Change to Color D
Rows 91-124: Repeat Row 2
Row 125: Repeat Row 2, fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.

Finish:

• Weave all ends.
