ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
() – indicates stitch counts
* – indicates instructions to be repeated
[ ] – indicates instructions to be worked into a st

Gauge:

12.8 stitches & 11.6 rows = 4″ (in pattern st)

Finished Sizes:

  • 3-5 Years – Fits 20″ head size
  • 6-10 Years – Fits 21″ head size
  • Adult Small – Fits 22″ head size
  • Adult Medium – Fits 23″ head size
  • Adult Large – Fits 24″ head size

Notes:

  • This pattern is written in US terms.
  • Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. If you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.
  • This pattern is worked flat and seamed at the ends to create the headband/earwarmer.

Instructions: 

3-5 Years:

Ch 18
Row 1:
Work 2 dc into the 3rd ch from hook, *sk the next 2 sts, [1 sc, 2 dc] into the next st; Repeat from * across until there are 3 sts remaining, sk the next 2 sts, 1 sc into the last st, turn. (16 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, [1 sc, 2 dc] into the first st, *sk the next 2 sts, [1 sc, 2 dc] into the next st; Repeat from * across until there are 3 sts remaining, sk the next 2 sts, 1 sc into the last st, turn. (16 sts)
Rows 3-52: Repeat Row 2

Finish:

  • Sc evenly around the entire headband, join in the beginning sc with a sl st.
  • Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.
  • Lay your headband flat. Bring the ends together so that they meet in the middle.
  • Using the yarn tail and yarn needle, stitch the ends together.
  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
  • Wrap the yarn tail around the center to create a “bow” center.
  • Secure the center, fasten off, and weave all ends.

6-10 Years:

Ch 18
Row 1:
