Sugar Scrub by Home Hearted {Guest Contributor}

Hello! My name is Madalyn and I nest over at home-hearted.blogspot.com. I first want to thank Amy for this amazing opportunity to share on her blog! I have been blogging for almost a year now and don’t know what I ever did before, because I love it so much! I love meeting new people and sharing with each other great ideas to make our homes and lives more beautiful and better. Thank you again Amy for having me and I hope you all enjoy this post!
I’m sure that you have all been seeing a lot of sugar scrubs lately with summer here. But, I had never made one myself and it looked so easy! I used only ingredients that I already had in the home, so feel free to change it up and try a concoction of your own!

My inspiration came from here.

My ingredients:

  • Coconut oil
  • Bourbon vanilla
  • Sugar

The bourbon vanilla simply involves buying a bottle of bourbon and sticking several whole vanilla beans inside and allowing it to marinate for several months or in my case years. We made some for Christmas presents about two years ago and we still had a lot left over so I’ve been substituting it in place of regular vanilla in my baking and its been delicious!

To finish it off I spray painted lids of condiment jars, used twine and scrapbook paper for the label and gave them away for Mother’s Day gifts. It looks pretty, smells good and is even yummy enough to eat! Hope you try to make one of your own!
