This week our featured blogger is Candy from Meladora’s Creations

“Hi my name name is Candy and I’m the creator of Meladora’s Creations. Thank you for featuring me in this weeks Tuesday PIN-spiration Link Party!
How I came about to make my You Tube channel came out of needing a job. You see I live in Israel presently, but I don’t speak Hebrew. I spent my first 30 years in Oklahoma City. Was married there and had my immediate family all alive yet not so well. The house I grew up in had a lot of abuse and fear and I got out of it as soon as I could at the age of 17. How did I get out so young? Well I met a man and feel in love. This man was everything my dad wasn’t. Kind, gentle and loving. I really needed that to heal the wounds of the past. Though after a few years I realized this wasn’t a good fit for me. Personality wise we didn’t match up so I always yearned for a friend I could talk to to share my life with. I didn’t leave though, because I couldn’t make it on my own and I sure wasn’t moving back to my parents house. So I stayed and was miserable. Because I was miserable I drank. A lot. For many years. Then something changed.

My Mom got breast cancer. Now I know for many people loosing there Mother is a very hard thing, and given that she was my only family member I felt I really loved, she never hit us and I felt safe with her. Now she was sick and dying and it started to open my eyes to how short life is. She died of her cancer and a year later my dad died of his long term fight with leukemia. Even though I wasn’t fond of my dad, he was still my dad. It sure feels weird living in a world without parents. World felt a whole lot realer and emptier. During the time before my dad died, I had been going over to my brothers house to play an online game and had become friends with a man. Was so helpful to have this friend to talk to about what had been going on in my life and what was going on at present with my dad. We became close and after my father died I decided to move in with my sister in my parents old house and divorce my husband of 11 years.

Living in the house where I grew up after all those years was weird but without my dad there at least it was peaceful. Me and my online friend got closer and started talking on video. We started up a relationship and after about 8 months of our online chats I got on a plane for the first time in my life and flew half way around the world to meet him in real life. If we were sitting down together having a cup of coffee I would share with you the long hardships of what we had to do to fight to be together. How I remained in Israel t be with him until I got my visa. But this is not that time. But what was during this time is our two kids. Lilly and Lior. Being a mom is tough, but being a mom in a foreign country where you don’t know the language and need to get a job to help pay to raise you kids is harder. I tried a few jobs but it didn’t pay well, so this left my youngest son in a daycare that was below standards in my opinion. My son was getting sick every week being there. He’s 6 months old at this time. My little baby boy. It broke my heart to see him sick from that place so after 2 months I had enough and I quit my job and took him out of there so I could watch him. He then got much better, but our money situation wasn’t!

I have always crocheted. My mom taught me when I was 5 1\2 so I always picked up the hook every so often to make something. Afghans mostly. But thanks to You Tube I got to learn much more! I started sharing videos of the things I made. Then I got encouraged to start creating videos on the things I made. I was scared of course, all I had was a very poor web cam that I used to talk to online with my friend, now it’s playing a different role. The first few videos were awful in quality but well received. So I invested in a slightly better camera, which was all we could afford at the time, and re did the videos. And I have still been upgrading my equipment and learning to teach on camera as time has gone on. If it wasn’t for you all who watch, share and subscribe to my videos, this story may not of had the happy ending that it’s had. So I am so very grateful to all of you who support me. Thanks again for featuring me in this weeks Tuesday PIN-spiration Link Party.
I strive to make sure even a beginner can make one of my patterns, so I created video tutorials and my patterns are full of pictures to help you. My latest tutorial is called “Lacy Flower Granny Square” and you can find the video tutorials and pattern for it here http://www.meladorascreations.com/lacy-flower-granny-square-free-crochet-pattern/

I have many tutorials for many things over these years doing this, but the one that really gave me my start was the Crochet Flower Purse and is still a favorite today. http://www.meladorascreations.com/crochet-flower-purse-free-crochet-pattern/

Thanks again for your time and I hope you can find something on my channel that will inspire you to try something new and to keep pushing you forward on your crochet journey. Until we meet again Happy Crocheting!!”
