It’s that time again…time to learn a new stitch! I am so excited to show you the Aligned Double Stitch pattern because it is an easy stitch that creates a beautiful stitch pattern. For this tutorial, I will show you how to make an 8″ x 8″ square. I hope you enjoy the tutorial! Happy Crocheting!
Aligned Double Crochet Afghan Square Tutorial
Materials:
- Worsted or Aran weight yarn and any color of your choosing. I used Lion Brand Cotton-Ease(affiliate link) for this example.
- Size I Crochet Hook (affiliate link)
- Yarn Needle
- Scissor
Abbreviations:
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
sk – skip
t-ch – turning chain
Multiple:
Chain an odd number of stitches
Gauge:
4 stitches & 2 rows = 1″
Instructions:
Row 1: 2 dc in the 5th ch from hook
Row 1 cont’d: *sk next st, 2 dc in next st**
Row 1 cont’d: Repeat from * to ** until the last 2 chains.
Row 1 cont’d: 1 dc in the last chain. Turn.
Row 2 cont’d: sc in the top of the first dc from previous row.
Row 2 cont’d: *Ch 1, sc in the space between the 2-dc clusters**
Row 2 cont’d: Repeat from * to ** until the t-ch. Ch 1, sc in the t-ch, turn.
Row 3 cont’d: 2 dc in each sc across. 1 dc in the last sc. Turn.
Rows 4-16: Repeat Rows 2 and 3
And that’s it! You should have a square that is approximately 8″x 8″. You can add a sc border around the square if you wish.
