It’s time to learn a new crochet stitch! This week I am going to show you the Cable Stitch. This is such a great stitch. I used it for some boot cuffs last year and they turned out gorgeous. I hope you enjoy the tutorial! Happy Crocheting!
Cable Stitch Tutorial and Afghan Square

Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in any color of your choosing. I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream* for this example.
- Furls Size I Crochet Hook*
- Yarn Needle*
- Scissors*

Abbreviations:
ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
dc– double crochet
sk – skip
t-ch – turning chain
Multiple:
Multiple of 4+2
Gauge:
4 stitches & 1 row = 1″
Instructions:
Row 1: 1 sc into the second ch from hook.
Row 1 cont’d: 1 sc in each of the chains across. Turn.
Row 2 cont’d: Sk the first st, sk the next st, 1 dc into each of the next 3 sts
Row 2 cont’d: Work 1 dc into the stitch that was just skipped, 4 stitches to the right. This is your Cable Stitch.
Row 2 cont’d: *Sk the next st, work 1 dc into each of the next 3 sts,
Row 2 cont’d: work 1 dc into the stitch that was just skipped (cable stitch)**
Row 2 cont’d: Repeat from * to ** across. Work 1 dc into the t-ch, turn.
Row 3 cont’d: Sk the first st, sc in next st.
Row 3 cont’d: Sc in each st across, ending with 1 sc in the t-ch, turn.
Row 4-15: Repeat Rows 2-3
Row 16: Repeat Row 2
This will give you an 8″ x 8″ square. You can add a sc border around the square or leave it as is.

This is stitch is really interesting – a bit broomstick and knitted Indian Cross Stitch. Definitely going to give it a try.
