It’s time to learn a new crochet stitch! This week I am going to show you the Cable Stitch. This is such a great stitch. I used it for some boot cuffs last year and they turned out gorgeous. I hope you enjoy the tutorial! Happy Crocheting!

Cable Stitch Tutorial and Afghan Square

Add to Ravelry Queue and Favorites

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn in any color of your choosing. I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream* for this example.
  • Furls Size I Crochet Hook*
  • Yarn Needle*
  • Scissors*

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc
 – single crochet
dc– double crochet
sk – skip
t-ch – turning chain

Multiple:

Multiple of 4+2

Gauge:

4 stitches & 1 row = 1″

Instructions:

Row 1 cont’d: 1 sc in each of the chains across. Turn.

Row 2 cont’d: Sk the first st, sk the next st, 1 dc into each of the next 3 sts

This will give you an 8″ x 8″ square. You can add a sc border around the square or leave it as is.

    This is stitch is really interesting – a bit broomstick and knitted Indian Cross Stitch. Definitely going to give it a try.
