Hi everyone! It’s my turn to share my square pattern for the You’ve Got Options CAL! Materials:

• Approximately 104 yds of Category 4 Medium Yarn in two colors:
  • Approximately 56 yds of Color A; I used Vanna’s Choice* in the Linen colorway
  • Approximately 48 yds of Color B; I used Knit Picks Preciosa Tonal* in the Pewter colorway
• Size I 5.5 mm Crochet Hook*
• Yarn Needle* for weaving ends
• Scissors*

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
FPdc – front post double crochet
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
sp – space
st(s) – stitch(es)
() – indicates stitch counts
[] – indicates instructions to be worked into one stitch
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Gauge:

14 stitches & 12 rows = 4″ (in hdc)

Finished Sizes:

• 6″ Square (For a 6″ square, stop after Round 8)
• 12″ Square

Notes:

• This pattern is written in US terms.
• Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. If you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.
• Corner chain stitches are not counted in the final stitch count at the end of the round.
• For a 6″ square, stop after Round 8.

Instructions:

With Color A,

Magic Circle, ch 1,
Round 1: Work 8 sc into the magic circle, join into beginning sc with a sl st. (8 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1, [2 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc] into the first st, 1 hdc into the next st, *[2 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc] into the next st, 1 hdc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (20 sts)

Fasten off Color A

Round 3: Join Color B into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[2 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into the next st, ch 2, sk the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (24 sts)

Fasten off Color B

Round 4: Join Color A into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[1 hdc, ch 1, 1 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 3 sts, 1 dc into each of the next 2 skipped sts from Round 2, 1 hdc into each of the next 3 sts; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (44 sts)

Fasten off Color A

Round 5: Join Color B into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[2 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 4 sts, 1 FPdc around the post of each of the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into each of the next 4 sts; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (56 sts)

Fasten off Color B

Round 6: Join Color B into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[1 hdc, ch 1, 1 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 6 sts, 1 FPdc around the post of each of the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into each of the next 6 sts; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (64 sts)

Fasten off Color B

Round 7: Join Color A into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[1 hdc, ch 1, 1 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 7 sts, 1 FPdc around the post of each of the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into each of the next 7 sts; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (72 sts)

Fasten off Color A

Round 8: Join Color A into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[1 hdc, ch 1, 1 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 8 sts, 1 FPdc around the post of each of the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into each of the next 8 sts; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (80 sts)

Fasten off Color A

Round 9: Join Color B into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[1 hdc, ch 1, 1 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 9 sts, 1 FPdc around the post of each of the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into each of the next 9 sts; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (88 sts)

Round 10: Join Color B into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[1 hdc, ch 2, 1 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 10 sts, ch 2, sk the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into each of the next 10 sts; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (96 sts)

Round 11: Join Color A into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[1 hdc, ch 2, 1 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 11 sts, 2 hdc into the next ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 11 sts; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (104 sts)

Fasten off Color A

Round 12: Join Color A into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[1 hdc, ch 2, 1 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 12 sts, ch 2, sk the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into each of the next 12 sts; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (112 sts)

Fasten off Color A

Round 13: Join Color B into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[1 hdc, ch 2, 1 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 13 sts, 1 dc into each of the next 2 skipped sts from Round 11, 1 hdc into each of the next 13 sts; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (120 sts)

Fasten off Color B

Round 15: Join Color A into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[1 hdc, ch 2, 1 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 15 sts, 1 FPdc around the post of each of the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into each of the next 15 sts; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (136 sts)

Fasten off Color A

Round 16: Join Color A into any ch-1 sp with a sl st, ch 1, *[1 hdc, ch 2, 1 hdc] into the ch-sp, 1 hdc into each of the next 16 sts, 1 FPdc around the post of each of the next 2 sts, 1 hdc into each of the next 16 sts; Repeat from * around, join into beginning hdc with a sl st. (144 sts)

 

Finish:

• Fasten off.
• Weave all ends.
• If your square is a bit wonky, I suggest wet blocking it. This will help the fabric relax into a normal shape.
