3 Skeins or Less: Quick Crocheted Accessories by Sharon Zientara, published by Interweave/F+W, is one of my favorite books that I have reviewed to date. It has 23 gorgeous accessories that you can whip up with 3 skeins of yarn or less! There are hats, scarves cowls, fingerless mitts, and so much more. There is a project for everyone in this book.I love creating accessories since they are so quick and easy to create. The beautiful patterns in this book are so quick to work up and they would make fabulous gifts for the holidays. Best of all, you wouldn’t have to spend a ton of money on yarn since there are some one and two skein projects. Here are some of my favorite projects in Quick Crocheted Accessories:

I absolutely love the look of this shawlette. It’s a 3 skein project made with a #3 yarn. I think this would be the perfect shawl to wear during a nice summer day.

This is a 2-skein project that is inspired by stackable jelly bracelets from the 1980s. I love the accent of the big button. It really makes the cowl pop! I can envision myself wearing this on a cool autumn day with my favorite chunky sweater.

This stunning wrap is an eye-catcher. I would love to receive this one as a gift or make it for a friend or family member. The Arcadian Wrap would be wonderful to wear for a special occasion or a night out on the town.

This quick beanie has an amazing texture created by post stitches. It is another 2-skein project and I think it would be a great hat for a girl or a guy!

The patterns in Quick Crocheted Accessories range in level of difficulty, from easy to expert so there is something for everyone. Sharon provides and excellent glossary of some of the important stitches used in the book, complete with diagrams. In addition to the glossary, there is also a list of abbreviations, a list of yarn sources, an index, and a section about the designers. Each pattern also contains a list of finished sizes, materials, gauge, and pattern notes to ensure that your project turns out great.

Cirque Shawlette

Designed by Christina Mershon

This shawlette is a bold, funky statement piece. The jewel tones of the yarn create a dazzling effect. Just throw it over a plain T-shirt and jeans and let the crochet take center stage. For something less dramatic, try working the design in a solid color instead.
