Are you #Noseblind? Febreze Noseblind Test and Giveaway
This review and giveaway was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Febreze. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine.
Whenever I have company over, I am always frantically cleaning up to make my home presentable. One thing that I am never really concerned about is the way my home smells. To me, my home smells just fine. That’s until I found out that I could be noseblind. What is noseblind you ask? Noseblindness is a nasal condition where one becomes accustomed to the odors around them over time. That’s right, your home, car, or anywhere else that is part of your “natural habitat” could smell like a wet dog or baby diapers and you wouldn’t even know because you are so used to the way it smells! Most of the time, your brain registers these familiar smells as “home” and not as bad or malodorous scents. You can easily become “nasally challenged” within your environment. So, when I invited my mom and brother over for movie night, we had the opportunity to take the Febreze Noseblind Test to find out what my home REALLY smelled like.
My mom and brother came over to watch a movie. When they sat down and got all comfy, we all took a survey about how my home initially smelled. We were not allowed to discuss our answers. After completing the first survey, we popped some popcorn for our movie. We all then completed another survey about how the home smelled. Again, we were not able to discuss our answers but clearly, my home smelled like popcorn. 🙂 We then settled in for our movie. After the movie concluded, we took one more survey about the smells in the home. It was weird that I had grown accustomed to the smell of the popcorn throughout the movie and only barely noticed the smell. We finally took one last assessment and were able to discuss our answers.
My mom and brother told us that the house smelled like vanilla or sugar when they came in. Thank goodness it didn’t smell like anything else! But the only reason it did smell like that is because I lit a candle before they came over. They also told me that they smelled cigarette smoke and something musty. Even though my husband and I don’t smoke, our neighbors do and we didn’t even realize that the smell was coming in or that we had even grown noseblind to it. We also talked about the how the popcorn smell was extremely strong at first and that everyone grew accustomed to it throughout the movie except my husband.
After the evening was said and done, I started using the Febreze products that I received. I couldn’t believe how fresh my home smelled after that. I didn’t even think that my home could smell so fresh and that I had become so used to smells that I didn’t even know were there. I was surprised that the Febreze products didn’t just mask the smells in my home but eliminated the bad odors and left a fresh, clean scent behind. I love using the candle for a longer lasting freshness but use the air freshener for a quick burst. I love the fabric refresher for those hard to wash surfaces. I am thankful that my home no longer smells musty and smokey.
