Let’s learn a new stitch this week! This stitch is called the Tipped Blocks stitch. I just learned this one and it is super easy once  you get the hang of it. In this tutorial, I will show you how to do the Tipped Blocks stitch and how to turn it into an 8×8″ square. Happy Crocheting!

Tipped Blocks Afghan Square

MATERIALS:

ABBREVIATIONS:

ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
st – stitch
t-ch – turning chain
tr – treble crochet

GAUGE:

4 stitches=1 inch and 2 rows=1 inch

MULTIPLE:

8+4

INSTRUCTIONS:

To make an 8″ x 8″ square,

Ch 28.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each stitch across. Ch 3, turn. (Ch 3 counts as first dc here and throughout)

Rows 5-10: Repeat rows 3-4, three more times.
Row 11: Repeat row 3, one more time.
Row 12: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across.

To finish, sc evenly around the entire square, placing 3 sc sts in each corner, for 2 rounds. Fasten off, weave ends.

Row 4: Ch 3, turn. Dc in the next 2 sts. *tr in the sc from previous row, ch 3, work 3 dc over the post of the tr, dc in each of the next 3 sts** Repeat from * to ** until the end of the row.
Rows 5-10: Repeat rows 3-4, three more times.
Row 11: Repeat row 3, one more time.
Row 12: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across.
To finish, sc evenly around the entire square, placing 3 sc sts in each corner, for 2 rounds. Fasten off, weave ends.

  1. I love your baby blankets and tutorials. However when I tried to download the tutorial for shell stitch I had 15 pages of advertising. I do not know what I did wrong, the tutorial is GREAT But those adds are a waste for someone who is looking for patterns to donate to the preemie unit of the local hospital. Is there a way to print the tutorials without all those adds? HOWEVER I JUST LOVE YOUR PATTERNS. KEEP UP THE GOO0D WORK AND MAY GOD BLEES YOUR HANDS.
