White Chocolate Chip Nutella Cookies
Last week I found myself craving something sweet. In an effort to try to eat better, I haven’t kept any snacks in the house. But I really wanted something sweet and chocolaty and gooey. I planned on making some chocolate chip cookies (my go-to when I want a cookie) but I didn’t have any semi-sweet chocolate chips. I had white chocolate chips left over from some cake pops I had made for someone but that was all. So when life hands you white chocolate chips, you make white chocolate chip cookies! The canister with the white chocolate chips was right next to my jar of Nutella. So I figured what the hay…might as well throw some Nutella in there too. I felt like a cookie mad scientist. I really didn’t know how these were going to turn out but they are actually really good. I took my basic chocolate chip recipe and reworked it a smidge to get the desired result. Hope you like the recipe!
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), room temp
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 4 tbsp Nutella
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips some white chocolate chips for the top
- Preheat oven to 350° F
- In a medium sized bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt together.
- In a separate bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar until creamy.
- Add vanilla and egg and mix until well incorporated. (I did all of this in my mixer but it’s easy enough to do by hand or with a hand mixer.)
- Add your Nutella into the wet ingredients and mix well.
- Once the butter/sugar mixture is well mixed, gradually add the flour until the dough just comes together. (You don’t want to mix it too much after that or the cookies will come out chewy)
- Gently fold in the white chocolate chips.
- Using a 2 tbsp cookie scoop, drop the cookies onto a parchment lined baking sheet or silicone baking pad. (I like to flatten them out just a little so that they don’t have a puffy center when they bake)
- Sprinkle a few of the white chocolate chips on the top of your cookies.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges begin to brown.
- Cool on baking sheets for 2-3 minutes. Move the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Eat and enjoy!
