Give Me Some Sugar Coffee Cozy www.thestitchinmommy.com #crochet #coffee #cozy #fall #sugar #pocket

When Fall rolls around, I love making coffee cozies to accessorize my favorite Fall drinks. Sometimes when I get a cup of coffee at my favorite coffee shop, I am 1. Usually in a hurry and 2. Always need extra sugar. That’s why I made this cute, fall-themed coffee cozy with a sugar packet pocket! If you are a tea drinker, feel free to stick your tea bag in there instead! It’s great for anyone that likes to enjoy a hot beverage. The best part is, this cozy is reusable! No more throwing away those little cardboard cozies that don’t even keep your hands from burning off. Make your own! Here’s how:

I was looking for a pattern that didn’t work in the round and I found it! Thank you so much!

Does the chain 3 in row two create a scalloped edge or am I doing it wrong?

Hi Emily! The ch 3 is supposed to act as the dc for that row but no, it’s not supposed to be scalloped. Are you working the sc into the same st as the ch-3 or the next st? If you work it into the same st as the ch-3, it will cause it to stick out.

So maybe I’m a newbie but I can’t even get row 1 to work out. I start in the 2nd chain and I always end with a DC. I do get the correct stitch count of 14 but it does not end on a sc. Is this correct?

Hi Amanda! You are correct. This is one of my older patterns that needed updating. I have updated it so it should be correct now.

Quick question, maybe I’m missing it. It’s worked in rows, but I don’t see instructions for joining the ends. Is it just meant to be closed around the cup using the button, or is the button decorative? The looks in the picture as if it’s been joined with a seam. Thanks!

The button is supposed to hold it together but if it doesn’t seem secure enough, you could always whip stitch the two ends together and have the button as a decoration

Amy, I really like this pattern. I am a newbie at crochet and to be honest, I really need visuals at this stage; also, reading a crochet pattern is like I’m in an algebra class, (not fun)
    Do you have videos available?
    Thanks!!!!

Hi Desi! Unfortunately I do not have any videos available at this time. The most I can do is help with a photo tutorial for the stitch pattern. Would this be of any interest or are videos the only things that help?

Hi there! Thank you for this pattern, I just finished one now. I believe there is a mistake in row 29. Throughout the main pattern there are 14 stitches in each row, but in the last row, it adds up to 15 stitches. I believe it should be 7 sc, ch 8, 7 sc. I may be wrong, but I just wanted to point it out.

Hi Ashleigh! Yes you’re right. I must have fat-fingered it when I was typing. It should be 7 sc, ch 8, 7 sc. I updated the pattern 🙂 Thank you!

I got a little confused. With the first few rows, does each row alternate from dc and sc so do you start each row with either a dc or sc and then carry on the row with the other one?

Hi Milly, yes Row 2 starts with a dc and row 3 starts with a sc. You will alternate the rows as indicated in the pattern.

Thank you so much for sharing this pattern! I just whipped up 2 as last minute teacher thank you gifts that went around reusable Starbucks travel mugs with a tea bag and Starbucks gift card in the pocket of each! They were quick & easy but came out beautifully. I definitely want to make one for myself as well as several friends.
