Hygge Ombre Basket – Free Crochet Pattern

Hi everyone! I’m so excited to share my pattern contribution for the Hygge Home CAL! If you are not familiar with the Hygge Home CAL, you can find more information about it here from Marie at Underground Crafter! So what is hygge? The word hygge (pronounced “hoo-ga”) has been popping up a lot lately! It is a Danish word that is roughly translated to feeling cozy and content by enjoying the simple things in life. Our Hygge Home projects are made with the comfy and cozy Hygge yarn from Red Heart. My contribution are these adorable baskets made with an ombre effect, in two different sizes. I hope you enjoy the pattern for my Hygge Ombre Baskets! Just scroll down below for the instructions 🙂 Happy Crocheting!

This post contains affiliate links. I do receive a commission if you make a purchase through my link(s), which helps support my blog and allows me to bring you more great posts! I also received complimentary yarn from Red Heart Yarns to be used in my design. I was not financially compensated to use this products in my post.

About the Yarn:

Red Heart was gracious enough to send me some of their Hygge yarn to use in my design and the moment I touched it, I fell in love. This yarn is so gorgeous! It is soft and cozy and perfect for projects around the home. This yarn is a category 5 bulky yarn, which is 70% acrylic and 30% nylon. It comes in 20 beautiful colors and each skein is 5 ounces/132 yards.

About the Crochet Along (CAL):

Every Monday from January 14 through March 18, 2019, we’ll share a free crochet pattern to make your home more cozy, comfy, and hygge! You can make these home decor projects to keep, for gifts, or to donate to charity while chatting with other crocheters in our groups and sharing your projects to win giveaway prizes!

Red Heart Yarns has generously provided each participating designer with yarn for this crochet along, so all of the patterns will be made with Red Heart.

Red Heart and Darn Good Yarn have also generously provided us with prizes for this CAL. Share your completed project pictures in this post from Underground Crafter by 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Monday, March 25, 2019 to enter for your chance to win!

  • You can join in by crocheting the patterns as you have time.

  • These baskets are worked in a continuous round. This is where the stitch markers come in handy. There is no joining unless otherwise noted.
  • Color changes are made in the last yarn over in the last stitch of the round.
  • The macrame cord is used for a more sturdy basket. If you do not need your basket to stand tall and be sturdy, you can feel free to omit the macrame cord. I made my smaller basket with cord to hold my hooks and the larger basket I made without cord so I could fit my yarn skeins inside.
