Finish:
- To add Christmas tree embellishment, thread yarn needle with approximately 12″ of Color B.
- Find the center of the cozy and think about how big you want your tree to be.
- Insert the yarn needle from the wrong side (inside of cozy) of the work to the right side (outside of cozy).
- Pull through so that the yarn comes through the right side, leaving a tail on the wrong side of the work (will be fastened off later.)
- Insert yarn needle straight across (I counted about 9 stitches for the base of my tree) and pull needle through to the inside of the cozy.
- Insert the needle from the inside to the outside right above the strand you just sewed.
- Repeat the previous steps to create another strand.
- Repeat previous steps again, decreasing the amount of stitches that your strand spans as you go up, to form a triangular shape.
- Fasten off.
- To create a star at the top of your tree, thread the yarn needle with approximately 6″ of Color C.
- Insert the yarn needle from the wrong side (inside of cozy) of the work to the right side (outside of cozy). Pull through so that the yarn comes through the right side, leaving a tail on the wrong side of the work (will be fastened off later.)
- Insert yarn needle diagonally to form a diagonal line.
- Repeat the previous steps to create another diagonal line to form an X.
- Repeat previous steps again, this time forming a plus sign over the X to create a little star.
- Fasten off and weave the ends in on the wrong side to secure them.
- To create the tree trunk, thread your needle with brown embroidery floss. Starting at the base of the tree, go back and forth through the stitches vertically, 3 times to create the trunk, working from the wrong side to the right side. Fasten off and weave ends in on the wrong side to secure them.
- Weave any other remaining ends.
