Last week I mentioned that I was attending the NYC Wine and Food Festival. I was invited by the lovely people at Unilever to attend the NYC Wine & Food Festival to try out their new spreads: Country Crock Simply Delicious and I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Deliciously Simple.
The first dish that I tried were pancakes made with
I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Deliciously Simple and an apple compote made with
Country Crock Simply Delicious. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of both spreads. You honestly would not be able to tell that each of the two components of this dish were not made with regular butter. The best part is, both spreads are made with simple ingredients such as canola oil, yogurt and a pinch of salt and contain no artificial preservatives. Each spread is also very versatile. They both can be used for baking, cooking or just as a topping to a great piece of bread or in this case, pancakes.
After trying the delicious pancakes and apples, I headed over to the bread bar to try each spread individually and in simpler fashion.
The first spread that I tried was the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Deliciously Simple with some thyme and a little salt and pepper. The Deliciously Simple tasted anything but simple. It was slightly tangy, creamy, and delicious. The herbs brought out the yogurt flavor. I basically wanted to stay at the bread bar and sample all day.
And sample I did. I walked around the Grand Tasting Hall a bit and sampled a few cocktails and wines before coming back to have my fill of the bread bar. Since I had already tried the
Deliciously Simple spread, it was time to sample
Country Crock’s Simply Delicious. This time I went even simpler and had
Simply Delicious with just a touch of salt. It was so creamy and delicious that you wouldn’t even miss the butter. In fact, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that I enjoyed it even more than real butter. I don’t really want to play favorites but I’ve always been a fan of Country Crock’s products and this is definitely my new favorite.
The highlight of my day had to have been meeting celebrity chef Robert Irvine, watching him cook and trying his amazing food. It’s an experience that I will never forget.
I had an amazing time at the NYC Wine and Food Festival and I tried so many delicious dishes that I would probably never have the opportunity to try otherwise. I want to thank the folks over at Unilever (especially Julia & Colleen) for having me there and letting me try their wonderful new spreads. I cannot wait to get my hands on some and start coming up with some great recipes to highlight the simplicity of
Deliciously Simple and
Simply Delicious.
I was selected to attend the NYC Wine and Food Festival by Unilever and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
