Paper Christmas Wreath with Scotch® Brand Expressions and Create #CraftAmazing

I love to create my own holiday decorations and I am always looking for fun new ways to incorporate my love for washi tape into my projects. That is why I am so in love with this Paper Christmas Wreath that I created with some cardstock and Scotch® Expressions Tapes! Scotch® Expressions Tapes are not only fun, but they are functional and quite versatile. You can turn a simple DIY project into an inspired creation! I took my basic paper wreath and turned it into a colorful creation with the help of Scotch® Expressions Tapes

To begin my festive creation, I went to my local Walmart to pick up a few materials. I strolled on over to the Paper Craft aisle and found everything I need for my project. The Scotch® Expressions Tapes, Scotch® Create Double Sided Tape, cardstock, and paper edgers were all there in one convenient spot. I brought everything home and began making my wreaths. I hope you enjoy the tutorial!

Paper Christmas Wreath Tutorial

Instructions:

Take the cardstock and place it on your work surface so that it is vertical. Using your ruler and pencil, mark a 1/2″ from the edge of the cardstock, on the top, middle, and bottom of the page.

Using the ruler, connect the three dots to form a straight line. Repeat for the other side.

wreath2

Turn the paper horizontally. Place your ruler on one of the lines. Mark a 1/2″ from the edge and each 1/2″ interval to the end of the page. Repeat for the other side.

wreath3

Turn the page vertically once again and line the ruler up to the first 2 marks on the page. Draw a line across, connecting the two points, making sure to not cross into the “not cut zone” that you created with the two vertical lines. Repeat down the page. These lines are going to be “guidelines” to place the tape.

Now it’s time for the Scotch® Expressions Tapes. I chose 4 colors but you can use as many or few as you would like. The possibilities are endless!

Figure out what kind of pattern you want to create and start laying your tapes down using the lines you previously drew, making sure to not place tape in the “no cut zone.” If your tape does not fit perfectly into the lines, it’s ok. Mine overlapped a bit. (Tip: To neatly rip the tape, hold the ruler down where you want to break the tape. Rip the tape along the ruler for a cleaner edge)

Fold the cardstock in half vertically, with the tape side out.

Using the scissors or paper edgers, cut along the ends of the tape, making sure to not cut into the “no cut zone.”

wreath9

Open the cardstock. Place the Scotch® Create Double Sided Tape in one of the “No Cut Zones.”

wreath10

Roll the cardstock with the tape facing outwards and stick the double sided tape to the other “no cut zone.” Make sure to press it down firmly to make sure it sticks.

wreath11

Fold the two ends together and secure with more tape. I lined the inside of my wreath with the pink glitter tape to cover the imperfections on the inside. Punch a hole through the top of the wreath and tie the twine into a knot to secure.

If you want to, you can embellish the wreath with a little ribbon bow and some glue.
