It’s time to learn a new crochet stitch! This week I am going to show you the Woven Shell Stitch. This stitch is gorgeous and great for afghans or dishcloths. For this tutorial, I will show you how to make an 8″x 8″ square. I hope you enjoy the tutorial! Happy Crocheting!

Woven Shell Stitch Tutorial and Afghan Square

Materials:

ch(s) – chain(s)
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
sp – space
st(s) – stitch(es)
t-ch – turning chain
() – indicates stitch counts
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Multiple:

Multiple of 6 +3

Gauge:

4 stitches & 1 row = 1″

Instructions:

Ch 33

Row 1: Sk the first 3 chains (count as 1 dc), sk the next 3 chains, 3 dc into the next ch (You will be skipping a total of 6 chains in the beginning),

Rows 4-9: Repeat rows 2-3
Row 10: Repeat Row 2 to complete your 8×8 square.

To even out the top of the square, dc into the top of the dcs from previous row and sc in the ch-3 spaces. Continue around with a sc border to make a neater square.
