Yarn Colors and Hook:
This post will show the poncho using Knit Picks Gloss DK and a 5.0 mm (H) hook. Colors used are as follows:
Row 1-5: Seaspray
Row 6-9: Cream
Row 10-15: Robot
Row 16-23: Seaspray
Option 1: Worsted Weight (Red Heart Soft) – 6.0 mm (J). Instructions are for Child Size 6.
Option 2: DK Weight (Knit Picks Gloss) – 5.0 mm (H). Instructions are for Child Size 4.
Abbreviations:
beg – beginning
ch – chain
RS – right side
hdc – half double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)
sk – skip
t-ch – turning chain
* – Repeat the instructions between the asterisks the number of times indicated. This repeat will contain multiple instructions.
() – Repeat the instructions between the parentheses the number of times indicated.
(Option 1 Stitch Count, Option 2 Stitch Count) – end of row stitch counts
Tutorials:
Moss Stitch – this is a full photo tutorial for the moss stitch that will be used in this week’s part of the crochet-along.

- Colors are changed in the last yarn over.
- the ch-1 at the end of each row (the turning chain) counts as a stitch

Row 17: Sk first st, *sl st into the next st, hdc into the next st** Repeat from * to ** across, working the last st into the t-ch, ch 1, turn. (33, 43)
Row 18: Sk first st, *hdc in the next st, sl st in the next st** Repeat from * to ** across, working the last st into the t-ch, ch 1, turn. (33, 43)
Row 19: Sk first st, *sl st into the next st, hdc into the next st** Repeat from * to ** across, working the last st into the t-ch. Ch 1, turn. (33, 43)
Row 20: Sk first st, *hdc in the next st, sl st in the next st** Repeat from * to ** across, working the last st into the t-ch, ch 1, turn. (33, 43)

If you are making Option 1, your piece will measure 11.5″ wide and approximately 6″ in height after Row 23.
If you are making Option 2, your piece will measure 10.5″ wide and approximately 5.25″ in height after Row 23.
